Have you ever forgotten to buy something because you didn't realize it was out of stock, or bought the wrong item when there was still plenty left?
Have you ever had such an experience?
By creating an inventory management list for daily necessities and ingredients, you will be able to systematize your household chores and do them more efficiently.
Features of an inventory list
First, identify all the daily necessities, groceries, etc. that you want to keep in stock.
Make an daily stock list by filling in the number of items you need to stock and the number of orders.
You can also use the daily stock list to keep track of the items, but I chose to use cards to keep track of them more reliably.
For items that need to be ordered, put the cards in the shopping list folder, and when the cards have accumulated to a certain extent, order them online.
Things to prepare
A computer with Excel
If you don't have a computer with Excel, or if you prefer to write by hand, please create the cards by hand.
If you divide an A4 sheet of paper into 10 equal parts, it will fit perfectly in a business card folder.
Business card folder
Divide A4 paper into business card-sized pieces.
Printer
Even if you don't own a printer, you can use Net Print to print.
How to make an inventory list
Categorize by item
First, categorize the daily necessities and groceries you want to keep in stock by location and expense.
Open the item sheet
If you want to manage the items by location, enter them in the washroom, toilet, etc. columns.
If you want to manage the items by expense, enter them in the Groceries, Daily necessities, Cleaning supplies, etc. columns.
Create an inventory list
Click on the cell of the item, and a down arrow will appear.
The contents set in the item sheet will be displayed and selected.
Enter the item name, the number of stock required, and the number of orders.
In the Note column, enter special notes such as expiration date and the name of the store where you purchased the item.
Each time you enter additional information in the column below, the ruled line of the table will also be added.
If you want to categorize the item columns by the same item, you will need to sort them.
Initially, you may want to list the item names as you think of them, and then sort them by item at the end.
Sorting procedure
Select the table by dragging it.
Click on Data→Click Sort →Check the column items → Click OK
The item columns in column B will be sorted by the same items.
The data is set in A4 horizontal size.
If you want to print and store the data, please make sure it fits within the frame in the printer's advanced settings.
Check the sheet
When you create an inventory list and open the card sheet, all the contents of the list will be automatically filled in.
The item, item name, stock quantity, and order quantity will be automatically entered.
Make sure that the item name, stock quantity, and order quantity fit well into the boxes.
If they do not, please reduce the number of characters to make them fit.
Each sheet contains 10 product names, and there are 12 sheets available, so you can enter up to 120 product names in total.
It is set for A4 size portrait orientation.
Before printing, please check the printer's advanced settings to make sure it fits within the frame.
How to store inventory cards
Store them in a business card folder.
After printing the sheets, cut them with scissors for each item name and store them in a business card folder.
The first and last pages come with A4 size clear files I bought, so I printed out the inventory list and keep it there.
You keep the cards by item or location, and put the items that need to be ordered in the shopping list folder.
Setting the shopping list sheet at the top makes it easier to manage.
Once you have accumulated a certain amount of cards in your shopping list, you can order them.
I try to order rice online at the same time I order it.
In addition to rice, it is very convenient to order most of your groceries and daily necessities, except for fresh foods.
It is also a good idea to set a date, such as ordering on the X day of every month.
If you are not a fan of ordering online, you can take a picture of your shopping list card so that you don't forget to buy anything.
How to put it on the place where you keep things
If you put it on your storage place, you can see at a glance when you need to order.
Set rules such as removing the card and storing it in a designated place when you need to order.
There are cases where you need to place an order at a time when a family member other than yourself will be using the product.
This is a great way to kill two birds with one stone, as it gives you an opportunity to decide the address of things and at the same time get your family members to participate in the household chores.
By keeping track of your inventory, you will know how much of what you need.
This will not only prevent you from forgetting to buy things, but also prevent you from wasting money and keep your house tidy.
